Three years ago, on this date I watched the movie Collateral Beauty for the first time in my life. This was during my Leap Year of Firsts. The world and I had just come through and were still dealing with the very challenging times of a worldwide pandemic created by COVID. I was always on the lookout for a positive message or thought to inspire me. I awoke at 4 a.m. on 10.12.20, unable to sleep, to turn on the TV. I found the movie and watched the movie that would turn into my recorded first for the day. After I finished watching the movie, I wrote …
“So, despite the business being in danger and the world gone mad around me, I was reminded of what was important. With everyone tense, anxious, angry, depressed. and fearful of the unknown, including their jobs and their lives, due to the virus, the movie highlighted how we must look and find the collateral beauty around us. Collateral Beauty highlights the three characters of life:
DEATH, which is inevitable (no one is getting out of here alive), is not to be feared.
TIME, which is all we have in this life. Use it well. Live it and don’t waste it. That year of firsts highlighted this fact for me. Life is too short.
LOVE, is what it is all about. Love others. Love yourself.”
With the start of a new (old) war in the Middle East, with the attack on Israel by Hamas, it made me think of my passage from three years ago for my blog post today. I think it still applies. I was looking for the Collateral Beauty in the world that day three years ago and look for it again today as I write. At the end of my writing about my first on October 12th, 2020, I ask my readers… “Do you look for the Collateral Beauty in your life?” Do you? Will you?
