Every Sunrise is a First!
Have you always wanted to do or experience something, but never seemed to get around to it? Where you curious of what something was like, but didn’t take the time to find out? What are you waiting for? There is no time like the present to experience something for the FIRST time. A New Year is a great time to reflect on these possible firsts and start to plan for and commit to them. You don’t have to do a year of them like I did.
In December 2019 I was inspired by fellow author LuAnn Cahn who had written a book – I Dare Me Lu Ann Cahn • Reboot & Recharge . Maybe, just maybe I will inspire you with my first book – A Leap Year of Firsts. https://www.amazon.com/author/keithbaldwinfirsts.com
You can visit www.KeithBaldwinFirsts.com and click on “FIRSTS” at top to get a few ideas. I wanted to Fly a Plane. I found a way to accomplished this on July 1st, 2020 – EXHILARATING. I always wondered what it would be like to be homeless – I experienced this on December 5th, 2020 – Life Changing. Or, how about seeing your first sunrise over the Isle of Palms (pictured) – Inspiring. There were so many other firsts that made me feel alive. I learned so much in doing these firsts. I learned I was a Wall of Fame Ax Thrower and a not so very good Juggler – both firsts for me. Have you ever driven the actual speed limit for a day? Not one mile an hour over! I have – NERVE WRACKING!!!!!!
You don’t have to do a first EVERY DAY. Maybe one a week, a month? Maybe one big one for the year? Maybe you have a bucket list you have been wanting to get to, but have put off. Maybe you are stuck in your life and need something to “Unstick” you? Doing or committing to do something for the “first” time in your life may assist with this.
Since my book has come out a number of people have asked me how doing a Leap Year of Firsts changed me or what message or take-away there was. After some time and additional thought, it came to me. A lot of us live our lives thinking of things we’d like to do, or the adventures we’d like to have, but we hold back. That’s what stands out to me about a journey of firsts. It’s about what is it that you would do if you were able to overcome the things that you see as limitations or the things that you are afraid of. Maybe your resolution for this year will be for the first time in your life to stretch these perceived limitations? I’ve learned life is too short. Will you?
Many more firsts to come! Forever grateful. With much love. Happy New Year!
